Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal will be evaluated by the Editorial Committee. In case of potential acceptance, the selected articles will be refereed by a process of “double-blind” reviewers, in which the name of the author(s) and reviewer(s) are removed. The external evaluators (peer reviewers) are experts on the particular subject, country or region analyzed. In a multidisciplinary case, two or more reviewers could participate in the evaluation process.

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal will be evaluated by the Editorial Committee. If accepted for review, the manuscript will be reviewed by two anonymous reviewers, experts on the particular subject, country or region analyzed. Manuscripts with a multi- or inter-disciplinary approach may be reviewed by two or more reviewers.

After the blind peer-review process is completed, the Editorial Committee will submit to the author(s) the reviewers’ feedback and one of the following decisions on the manuscript: a) accepted for publication with minor or no changes, b) accepted for publication only if major changes are made, and c) not accepted for publication.

In the case of a) and b), the author(s) should review the manuscript and send the reviewed files back to the editors within an agreed timeframe period. The final approval depends on the completely satisfaction of the requested revisions. Revised submissions may be re-sent to peer reviewers and all editorial decisions will be made by the assigned editor.

If accepted for publication (decisions a and b above), the author(s) should revise the manuscript according to the reviewers’ feedback and submit, before the specified deadline, a revised version of the manuscript together with a detailed description of changes and/or replies to reviewers if necessary. Revised submissions may be re-sent to peer reviewers. The Editorial Committee reserves the right to accept or reject a revised manuscript.

Once the revised manuscript is received and approved by the Editorial Committee, no further corrections will be permitted, see also the corrections policy below. The revision process should not take more than three months. Once the accepted and edited manuscript is sent for production, it would normally take about 4 weeks.

Plagiarism

The use of other people's work without correct attribution and permission is considered a very serious offence by the academic community. All submissions to the Journal will be uploaded to Similarity Check to assess if the content closely matches content available elsewhere. If a high similarity report is produced, or a case of allegation is made against a publication, the Editor in Chief will carry out an independent investigation, following COPE guidelines, and remedial actions will be taken.

Corrections and Retractions

Amendments, Publisher's Notes, Correction Articles, Retractions or Withdrawals will all be dealt with in accordance with Stockholm University Presses Corrections Policy.
